What's the difference between acrylic and polycarbonate?

Acrylic

  • Cheaper than polycarbonate
  • Slightly clearer, with better light transmittance
  • More scratch-resistant
  • Easier to cut, shape, and polish
  • Can become brittle in very cold temperatures
  • Suitable for projects requiring clarity and ease of workability

Polycarbonate

  • Stronger and more impact-resistant
  • Better suited for extreme temperatures and outdoor use
  • Heavier and more durable
  • Requires more care to avoid scratches
  • Tougher to cut and shape, but great for high-stress applications
  • Ideal for outdoor projects and where durability is key
